HR Manager - 6 months - £47k to £52k - Bournemouth

As HR Manager you will take a leading role as part of the senior HR Team to provide expert HR advice, guidance and support at corporate level and also to designated areas of the organisation.

You will work in partnership with designated business units, understanding the needs of each area and proactively provide advice and guidance to contribute to and influence strategic plans and in doing so assist Professional Services to realise their strategic objectives.

Main Responsibilities:
Operational Human Resource Management
· To ensure best practice in operational HR management within the designated areas through the provision of high quality, consistent, robust, proactive and timely advice to senior leadership and other managers and staff.
· To manage a strategically aligned operational HR service for designated Schools units which focuses on the priorities, strategic direction and strategic objectives of the area and wider organisation, with particular focus on their people management aspects within Professional Services.
· To devise and implement strategies for recruiting, retaining and developing staff in operational areas that are capable of addressing organisational needs.
· To provide specialist expert HR advice to managers on issues such as change management, discipline, grievance, sickness management and employment law. This may involve advice and support on issues for which there are no clear guidelines and may set precedents. To ensure day to day advice is provided by HR Adviser and HR Assistant.
· In conjunction wth the Director of Human Resources, to work closely with the leadership teams of Professional Services to recognise and respond to the need for change and to provide effective tools and ideas for change to be initiated.
· To manage case work on grievance and disciplinary hearings and more complex terminations of employment. This may also include ET proceedings.

Team Management
· To effectively manage designated HR Advisor and HR Assistant. To ensure supervision and appraisals are undertaken on a regular basis and to support the continued professional development. In addition to address any performance, discipline or grievance issues within the team.
· To work collaboratively with other HRM's to ensure an adequate level of operational HR service is available at all times for all Professional Services.

To undertake any other duties including projects, or parts of projects, specified by the Director of Human Resources.

The ideal candidate will be CIPD qualified and have extensive experience at managing operational HR teams. The contract will initially be for 6 months and the ideal candidate will be available to start in the next 4 weeks.
