We have a rare Head of Purchasing role on near to Southampton in Hampshire due to forthcoming retirement – on top of a salary up to 60k plus a maximum bonus of 20% on top, this role not only pays very well but most importantly this role will offer you autonomy and a chance to join a well established and prestige manufacturer with strong business links well established.

In this role the Head of Purchasing will have circa 50M budget and ultimately oversee and lead the purchasing department providing procurement of raw materials, utilities and general services at their site in Hampshire.

So what will be my main duties? Reporting in to the Vice President of Purchasing and MD, you will directly negotiate with suppliers for the sourcing of raw materials, packaging and waste services. You'll be cost effective, streamline the buying function always looking at ways to continually improve and reduce costs. You'll work closely with supply and utilise supply chain management techniques to prevent critical supply issues. A key part of the role will be implementing a vendor management system to monitor performance and also setting departmental KPI's.

So what do I need? This is a senior role within a chemical manufacturing company, so it is essential that you have good experience within chemical procurement already at a senior level. You'll have a natural drive to meet this roles expectations, strong cross functional communication and influencing skills. It is critical that you hold very strong negotiation skills.
