PARCS Background

PARCS is a locally based charity (established in 1981) which works to ameliorate the legacy of interpersonal trauma through the provision of a rage of specialist and integrated services for survivors and their families. The service also aims to end all forms of sexual abuse through its innovative outreach and prevention programme.

The Role - Background

This is a new role and a joint initiative with the University of Portsmouth. It is supported by funding from the Higher Education Funding Council for England's Catalyst Fund. The HEFCE grants were issued in response to a report by the Universities UK Harassment Task Force which explored the nature and scale of the problem in higher education and highlighted the need for institutions to respond more effectively.

This exciting and innovative project has been developed by PARCS and the University of Portsmouth alongside students. The post holder will be responsible for developing a range of activities including recruiting and training a small team of volunteers, helping to design and establish new responses to prevention and reporting and developing training programmes for students and staff based upon the Bystander model of change.
