Both as Duty Manager and as part of the frontline team, this post plays an important role in ensuring high standards of customer care and that visitors enjoy a great day out, give a positive account of their visit to friends and family and come back again and again! The post holder will work at any of the museum and visitor services sites.

Museums and Visitor Services Officers function as the Duty Manager on a regular basis, assuming responsibility for the safe operation of the site and the supervision of all frontline staff on duty.

You will operate the smaller sites (Dickens Birthplace, Cumberland House and Southsea Castle) on a regular basis but will also be expected to unlock/lock other buildings and act as duty manager to allow Senior Museum and Visitor Services Officers to leave the site and cover for leave etc.

You may be required to work in our café at Portsmouth Museum which is soon to be re-opening and will be operated in house. The role may also include working in one of the stand-alone Visitor Information points at the Hard and on the seafront.
