Salary: Level 1 £20,048 - £23,166 p.a. Level 2 £23,166 - £27,394 p.a.
Working in the Highways Costal and Design Team we are seeking an experienced engineer support our engineers to successfully design and deliver schemes from inception through to completion. You will be involved in schemes that range from small revenue improvements through to multimillion pound major projects.
We are seeking someone who is educated to Bachelor, Master degree or HND level to meet the professional academic entry requirements of an appropriate professional body such as the Institution of Civil Engineers, such that it enables direct progression towards a professional qualification such as IEng or CEng. You will have a strong desire to learn and develop your own skills leading to further qualifications and a career in Civil Engineering.
The Assistant Engineer post may be Level 1 or Level 2.
Level 1 is intended for new graduates and those post holders who have less than 2 years' experience. They are in the early stages of their career and expected to show a strong desire to learn and develop as engineers. An Assistant Engineer can progress to Level 2 by: • having at least 2 years' experience and, • providing evidence (agreed by their line manager) to show they are performing at the required standard of the role including progression towards a professional qualification and, • being recommended for promotion from Level 1 to Level 2 by their line manager.
In terms of career development, a good target for an Assistant Engineer to move from Level 1 to Level 2 is not later than 3 years.
