Are you in industry or academia and looking for an exciting and flexible role which uses your creativity to contribute to the delivery of Mechanical Engineering programmes? Does your experience bring a fresh perspective which will encourage under-represented groups, particularly women into this field? Are you passionate about making a difference through your imaginative approach and expertise in an applied area of Mechanical Engineering?

The University of Chichester has invested in new facilities and equipment to launch and deliver Engineering & Design and Creative Digital degree programmes at its Bognor Regis Campus. The new, 6000 m2, Tech Park opened in October 2018 and houses the departments of Engineering & Design and Creative Digital Technologies. Engineering & Design runs programmes in Mechanical Engineering; Electronic and Electrical Engineering and Product Design.

The Department of Engineering & Design was formed in 2016 receiving its first student intake in 2017, and is continuing to build a diverse team of innovative people to contribute to the development and delivery of Mechanical and Electrical and Electronic Engineering programmes for the academic year 2019 onwards. We welcome applications from women in this field as they are currently under represented in this area.

We are looking for Lecturers and/or Senior Lecturers (level of appointment would be dependent upon experience and qualifications) in Mechanical Engineering. Although we have an interest in all areas of mechanical and electrical/electronic engineering, having a knowledge and expertise in one or more of the following areas would be beneficial:

Statics & Dynamic Systems;

Thermofluids;

Instrumentation & Control Engineering;

Manufacturing Systems and Processes.

In the team we currently have active researchers in the areas of Materials; Electromagnetics, antennas and remote detection technology; high voltage materials; renewable energy and power electronics and welcomes engineers with any relevant research interests, however we would be particularly interested in candidates with research interests in any aspect of EV technology.

Ideally you will have a good relevant undergraduate degree with further professional or academic qualifications at Masters and/or Doctorate level, or have relevant and equivalent industrial standing and experience. Having an in-depth understanding of engineering in one or more of the above areas is essential. You will be required to develop and deliver high quality teaching and to play a key role in the continued growth of the Engineering & Design department at Chichester.

We have a flexible approach and both part time and full time requests will be considered to achieve the skills balance within the team. Does this sound like you? If so we are waiting for your application.

Informal enquiries are welcomed by Dr Howard Taylor (Head of Mechanical Engineering): 07823-788893. Email. H.taylor@chi.ac.uk

The University of Chichester welcomes applicants from BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic) backgrounds as they are currently under represented at this level.

This position will require a Disclosure and Barring Check (DBS) which will be undertaken by the University on appointment.
