Our hostels offer safe and structured accommodation to individuals, some with complex needs.

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic person to join our committed team of night staff to provide informal support to hostel service users and maintain a safe environment for all.

Your role will consist of providing a welcoming reception area and service to all hostel service users and other callers, to support and encourage each service user to maintain a clean and safe environment and with practical life skills. You will need to manage the immediate support needs, sometimes providing crisis intervention. You will spend time talking to the service user and provide informal support and motivation

During the shift you will ensure the health and safety of the building, cleanliness of the project, minding the reception area, responding to phone calls and completing environmental checks. You will play a key part in the documentation of the handovers and recording of any incidences or accidents. You will be responsible room preparation when clients move on and ensure rooms are to a high standard for the next person to move in.

Previous experience of working within the homeless sector or similar setting is desirable and you should be willing to work with clients who at times can display challenging behavior.

It is essential that you will have a non-judgmental and supportive approach to assisting single homeless and vulnerable adults and have experience and knowledge of Health, Housing and Work issues facing service users experiencing homelessness.

There are two posts available, both on a fixed term contract until March 2021.
