Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive and results-driven Customer Account Manager to join our sales team.
This role combines sales representation with account management responsibilities, focusing on growing existing accounts, building new customer routes, increasing overall spend, and identifying new opportunities.
You will actively manage customer accounts to maximise revenue and ensure our customers continue to see value from our products and services.
This role involves both new business development and a fair element of existing client management with a focus on the new business side of things.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of existing customer accounts, building strong relationships and understanding their operational and business needs.
- Identify and develop new sales opportunities and customer routes in line with company growth targets.
- Monitor customer spend and proactively manage accounts showing declining activity, implementing strategies to retain and grow revenue.
- Upsell, cross-sell, and promote new products and seasonal offerings to maximise account potential.
- Provide customers with product recommendations, menu solutions, and advice to help them achieve their goals.
- Collaborate with warehouse, logistics, and customer service teams to ensure orders are fulfilled accurately and on time.
- Act as the customer advocate within the business, providing feedback on trends, requirements, and service improvements.
- Maintain accurate records of sales activity, customer interactions, and route management in CRM systems.
- Achieve and exceed individual sales targets and contribute to the team’s overall objectives.
Requirements
- Proven experience in sales or account management, preferably within foodservice, hospitality, or FMCG.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust and influence decision-makers.
- Target-driven with a proactive, entrepreneurial mindset.
- Skilled at identifying opportunities and addressing declining customer spend.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple accounts effectively.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel as required.
- Knowledge of foodservice operations is an advantage.
