Bournemouth is set to host the world’s first international Wheel’s Festival, which could potentially bring the local economy an estimated £9 million as well as creating around 150 jobs for locals. The festival will feature BMX stunt riders and will see huge monster truck parades, as a part of the family focused motorsport event.
The festival is set to take place at the end of May 2014, and it is anticipated that over 350,000 people will attend. This will be a huge boost for the local economy, with visitors pumping money back into the area. Hotels will be full up, tourists will visit Bournemouth’s retail shops and locals will be able to work at the festival in various jobs roles.
Bournemouth’s local Council has given the festival a budget of £200,000 and has received £50,000 in sponsorship so far. Bournemouth has previously hosted the Air Festival, which was a huge success. Local businesses are excited at the prospect of being home to another festival as it will generate a large amount of money, and place Bournemouth on the map as a top notch tourist destination spot in the UK.
